Sherry started cutting, coloring, styling hair in 1981- ask her how 9th Street looked then! A Durham native, Sherry opened Wavelengths in 1994 on Ninth Street . Sherry’s background includes training with Aveda, Bumble , Framesi and Ouidad. Her work as a Framesi haircolor technician in NC gives her an advantage in understanding color challenges for todays clients. Sherry has had Aveda training in D.C., Minneapolis and New York in business, haircutting, makeup, styling etc. She says that her Ouidad training in 2008 was probably the most extensive/ difficult hair cutting training( under the eagle eye of Ouidad herself).Her training as a Bumble Network Educator in New York gave her an opportunity to expand upon her teaching skills. Wedding hairstyles will always be Sherrys’ favorite hair service. Wavelengths Salon is always evolving as Sherry seeks to keep everyone up to date with the latest trends and techniques . Continuing education and constant forward motion will always be important to Sherry and Wavelengths. In addition to owning Wavelengths Salon, Sherry is also a licensed Realtor at Berkshire Hathaway/HeartNC .

Amira Chapple

We love Amira and her exotic flare, as she was born in Kenya. She never ceases to surprise our team: She has a black belt in karate, loves gardening at home, and taking care of her honey bees and chickens! Amira has many specialties when it comes to styling: color, hilites, cuts (for all ages), perms, and hair straightening/smoothing. Besides being an excellent hairdresser, Amira is a qualified & practicing Shaman (energetic & spiritual healer). Chris Crabtree

Stylist

Sassoon trained- Chris creates perfectly precise bobs. Chris Crabtree is a Durham native. He attended Mitchell's Cosmetology Academy in Cary in 1993-94 aquiring an apprentice license. After school, Chris completed an apprenticeship program at the well respected Across the Street Hair Design. After he completed his apprenticeship, Chris worked his way up to master designer there before striking out on his own. He has owned two salons, Csquared and Evolutions. He has completed many continuing ed classes over the years. His favorite were his many trips the Arrojo Academy in NYC. Chris specializes in classic cuts such as bobs and wedges, straight edge razor work, long hair cutting and a wide variety of hair color processes. He is Keratin Complex and Brazilian Blowout certified. Chris also does fused, beaded and taped extensions. Please come by to talk about all the possibilities.

Carli Austin

Carli is a Durham native, great with customized cuts and all facets of color; especially balayage. Absolutely fantastic updos and special occasion hair. Car;i is the queen of fades and barber cuts. She trained in Greenville at John Paul Alexander Institute and recently attended the Aveda Congress in Minneapolis. She loves wedding hair and makeup. Carli is a makeup artist extraordinaire ! Kate Gunther Bowers

Behind the chair since 2000; Kate is a Ouidad-certified cosmetologist specializing in fashionable cuts and stunning colors as well as perms. She has an eye for design that shows in her work . Originally from Lomg Island ,New York ; Kate has been in NC since 2003. Among her many talents- Kate is a potter, painter, jewelry designer and art teacher. Kate is also a certified Bumble&Bumble Network Educator. Let her put the artists touch on your design.

Lindsey is our balayage/ blonding specialiist- certified by Masters of Balyage. Lindsey has over 15 years experience and loves color- but most of all- she loves her girls!
